From the beginning, Kayla and Brian’s elopement was about going with the flow and enjoying their surroundings. We kicked things off early, arriving at Kelly Park Springs before the park opened. We were trying to beat the crowd and get some private moments before the park started to get busy. If you are trying to take pictures or elope like Kayla and Brian, I highly recommend coming early since this park is so beautiful and has tons of visitors every day!
After we arrived, Kayla and Brian got dressed in their wedding clothes and had the sweetest first look. I love it when my elopement couples choose to do a first look. Just because you are eloping doesn’t mean you can’t have these little moments you’d typically see at a traditional wedding. After their first look, they exchanged their vows as the sun rose. It was the sweetest moment to be able to witness. I am a big advocate for exchanging personal vows since that’s what a marriage is all about, making that personal commitment to someone for the rest of your life.
Once their intimate ceremony was finished, I took Kayla aside for some bridal portraits in her elopement dress; while I was taking her picture, we were unexpectedly joined by the local fire department’s scuba team, who were there for training. They photobombed a few shots, which I can’t say has ever happened before during an elopement!! After capturing their detail photos like their vow books and Kayla’s bouquet, we headed to King’s Landing for some adventure. We decided to go kayaking down the stream, which was a blast! This elopement felt like we were on a date that I just happened to be taking photos on. We paddled down the stream, stopping every now and then to snack and even swing from some of the nearby trees.
After adventuring on the kayaks for a little while, we returned to Kelly Park, where they had flamingo floaties they were playing to lounge on. Unfortunately, a baby gator decided to crash their wedding (only in Florida, right?), so no one was allowed in the water just to be safe. So, instead of floating around on the flamingos, they cuddled on the shore, making for the sweetest couple photos!
This elopement was the perfect adventure for Kayla and Brian. I loved how they decided to turn their commitment to one another into an activity. Anytime they go to Kelly Park Springs or kayak, they will think about how a baby gator crashed their wedding day.
