When Andrea and Kevin told me the plan for their adventure elopement on a beach, I was so excited!! This elopement at Fort Pierce Inlet in Florida was a sunrise boat elopement out at sea, followed by a playful day on what locals call “Swing Island” due to the rope swings hung up in the trees.
Andrea and Kevin chose to head to sea in the early morning for their elopement. We met at the marina just as the sky began to rise, and that first golden hour of the day really highlighted the beauty of the nature around them! Andrea arrived looking stunning, her hair and makeup done and ready for their adventure! They hired a boat captain to charter them around, ensuring a stress-free adventure.
Andrea and Kevin, dressed in their wedding attire, hopped on the boat and went to the bow as they headed away from the shoreline. Being their witness was so romantic as the wind blew Andrea’s hair around. They read their handwritten vows to each other, with the ocean and the sunrise as their backdrop.
After they exchanged their vows, we headed back towards the intercostal waterways. They celebrated their marriage by making coconut mojitos on the boat and popping open a bottle of champagne. The captain even let them take over steering, which was the perfect photo op for their boat elopement!
Once we reached Swing Island, Kevin carried Andrea off the boat as if he were carrying her over the threshold. Now that they were back on land, they enjoyed a casual picnic with pub subs, beers, and a key lime pie for dessert! After the picnic, they changed into their bathing suits to splash around in the water, celebrating this significant milestone.
Despite the chilly and very windy morning, these two were absolute champs. Lucky for us, it’s Florida, and the day warmed up beautifully, making for some fun in the sun right after the vows. The day was filled with unique touches, from Andrea’s bright spring bouquet to their relaxed, intentional post-ceremony activities.
Capturing Andrea and Kevin’s elopement was an unforgettable experience. The combination of the sunrise, the magic of being on a boat in the ocean, and their love for each other made this one of the most unique adventure elopements I’ve photographed. I loved how they didn’t just rent a boat for their vows and turn it into a photoshoot. They had a full day planned out, and it was as if I was third-wheeling on a special date they had planned.
For those dreaming of an unconventional and intimate wedding day, I highly recommend an adventure elopement on a boat! Here’s to more adventures, more love, and elopements that break from tradition!
